For those who have shipped household items (10–12 boxes) from the US to India using services like SFL or Universal Relocations, how did you handle customs clearance at the Indian port? From my initial conversations with these companies, it sounds like you either need to be physically present at the port with your passport or send them your passport by courier. I’ll be several states away from the arrival port, so traveling there would add significant cost. Has anyone actually couriered their passport to these companies for customs processing? How safe was that experience?
