So I listed a very nice putter for private sale on a golf-centric forum. It sold for the ask price of $500. I securely packaged up the club and brought to the local FedEx store. It shipped via FedEx ground from TX to NC on Mar 22. Added the travel history. The buyer lives 45 min away from the last scan. This happened today at 5pm. I work from home and my room's window is facing the street in front of my home so I see everything that goes on including when deliveries are done. I shipped a package through Fedex from Georgia to Los Angeles, something I've done several times before without issue. Suddenly on March 2nd, the day its due to arrive at its destination I get a delivery updated message as it gets scanned departing the Chino location. No big deal, I give it a day or two to sort out. I recently made an online purchase ($55) and a few days after delivery was emailed by FedEx saying that I owe import and duties on the package that was delivered. Initially I was worried it was a scam, but looking into it I’m now aware that this is something that happens sometimes. The issue is that the charge is almost $100. Almost double the price of the package itself. The box was maybe 12x8x4 inches and weighed all of 2 pounds. I’m not sure why the fee is so high? Also, this is not something that I was aware of when purchasing the product. How is it that an item I bought came Saturday by Amazon. I got a shipping notification that it was shipping by Fedex. I got updates and such and the delivery date was for today (Tuesday). I get a notification that FedEx delivered but no package. How does this happen? I am not complaining because I received the item but it's strange how it arrived.

To help deal with my mother's recent move to assisted living, I've taken over her financial matters so I rented a box for her at a post office. The PO also supplied a street address for the box (intended for package deliverers like Fedex). Many companies want a mail address PLUS a home address but "Federal law prohibits using a PO Box as a home address". Hallo :) I've been sent a FedEx envelope containing a single page letter and a plastic card (License), from the US. Upon the update that it has arrived in Germany, I also received a request to pay Steuer (USt.) and Aufwendungspauschale, totaling to about 50 Euro (\~35/15 split). Simple question is - Why?! Didn't really expect this on this type of shipping, especially after paying a similar sum for the shipping itself. I am not sure how the sender classified it.
