I bought a loose Miles Morales action figure for which I paid about $25. India Post guy collected an additional INR 366 ($4) citing custom duties. When I asked for the customs statement he simply showed me the printed delivery list which mentioned the amount next to 'custom duties' printed against my parcel. Is this normal even though the seller has marked the item value as $10? This has happened to me twice now. The only time in recent memory when I didn't have to pay customs was when I bought a figure from a seller in Australia and the last mile delivery was done by a non-government run delivery service. I am moving back to India from Tokyo on 18th December. Before that I am planning to send a box of my stuff (mostly clothes and kitchen utensils) back to india by Japan post. But I heard from a friend that she had to pay about 10k INR as tax for her parcel which also included mostly clothes. If anyone has any experience with sending parcel to India, please let me know what should be done to keep the tax amount at its minimum since I am not sending any valuable stuff and don't want to spend much in taxes.

I had a very disappointing experience with UPS Courier India. My shipment took **20 days** to get delivered. I understand that customs clearance can sometimes take time, so that delay was acceptable — but the real issue was the extremely **poor communication and tracking updates**.
